Enrollment procedures
To enroll your child in a nursery school or the like, you must provide proof that you are unable to care for him/her during the day. If you are working, for example, you will need to present proof of employment; if you are ill, you will need to present proof of illness such as a medical certificate.
If you want to enroll your child from April, when the new school year begins, you must apply to the Nursery Schools and Kindergartens Affairs Section from around October to November of the previous year.
Fee
A fee is required to use nursery school services. The amount is determined based on the income of the parents/guardians.
There is no fee for the 3- to 5-year-old classes. There is no fee also for the 0- to 2-year-old classes for households exempted of residence tax.
Example: The three-year-old class is for children who are three years’ old as of April 1.
