Changes to your residence card

A residence card is an important item that confirms your status of residence and period of stay while living in Japan.

Address listed on your residence card

To register an address on your residence card or change the one listed, please apply at the Civic Affairs Section.

To extend your residence card or change your status of residence

For procedures other than registering your address or changing it, please apply at the Tokyo Regional Immigration Services Bureau.

My Number card’s expiration date

Your My Number card expires when your visa expires.

If you have applied to extend your visa, you can also extend your My Number card’s expiration date to the new expiration date.Please complete these procedures at city hall before your My Number card expires.

If your My Number card expires, you will need to apply to have it reissued.This requires a fee.
