Nursing Care Insurance
Nursing care insurance is a system that pays for nursing care (having someone take care of you as you get older) when you need it Residents forty years’ old and over pay nursing care premiums.Those enrolled in nursing care insurance can use nursing care services (such as assistances with meals and baths) if they become ill in their elder years.
How to pay nursing care premiums
- Residents between the ages of 40 and 64 pay their premiums along with health insurance premiums.
- Residents aged sixty-five and over pay using the payment slips sent by the city or have the premiums deducted from their pensions.
Those eligible to use the services
- Residents aged sixty-five and over who need nursing care because they are bedridden, have dementia, etc.
- Residents between the ages of 40 and 64 can use these services if they need nursing care due to having one or more of the 16 illnesses the government designates (cerebrovascular disease, etc.).
Available services
Residents who apply and are certified as “in need of care” or “in need of support” can receive care at home or at a facility. The city pays for part of the costs of the care provided.
